A New Beginning

In 1971, Alwun House founders, led by Kim Moody, purchased the property, initiating a transformative rehabilitation. Recognized by the Arizona State Historic Preservation Office in 1993, the Sedler House became eligible for National Historic Registration in 2005.

The Vision

Under Kim Moody’s vision, Alwun House evolved into the first downtown nonprofit alternative|contemporary art gallery. The facility underwent renovations, creating lush gardens and a small stage. Notable productions and events, like the Caribbean Carnival showcasing reggae and world-beat music, gained widespread attention.
