June 3, Technology Will Save Us

First Friday: June 3, 2022, Technology Will Save Us, 6pm to 10pm FREE

Exhibit up through July 29,2022.

Taking his art in a new direction, Michael Farmer has created a series of challenging collage and assemblage artworks that wades into the intersection of art, politics, religion, and technology. The product of three plus years of dedication to a singular vision the works draw on the tradition of Robert Rauschenberg’s combines and the screen printed style and symbolism of the pop art era. It tackles such historical luminaries as Alan Turing and critiques the techno-billionaires Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos. By incorporating religious iconography and paraphernalia from Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, and Taoism, and technology ephemera like diskettes, punch cards, vacuum tubes, and circuit boards, Michael Farmer examines the disconnects and contradictions of the digital revolution. Each piece is full of artistic “Easter eggs” that can have viewers enraptured, entranced, and provoked. To quote recent viewers of the work, “This is what art should do.”
